BIOGRAFIA
Gala del Sol (1996) is a Colombian filmmaker known for her unorthodox views and unconventional pieces. Focusing on aesthetic innovation and characterized by her wit and narrative rigor, her stories revolve around the games of temporality, magical realism, surrealism and minimalism.
She is constantly taking inspiration from the 1950s, 1980s, and 1990s, and jokes that her style is "retro-futuristic, gothic-tropical." She graduated Cum Laude with a BFA (Bachelor of Fine Arts) in Film Production with an emphasis on Directing, from Chapman University’s Dodge College of Film and Media Arts in Los Angeles, California.
Her short film TRANSIENT PASSENGERS (2018) was a finalist at the 45th Student Academy Awards, making her the second Colombian to be nominated. Her short films and music videos have been recognized in more than 70 festivals around the world, including The Hollywood International Film Festival, The Austin Film Festival, The Brooklyn Film Festival, The Newport Beach Film Festival, Brazil International Film Festival, The Santorini Film Festival, Los Angeles Shorts Festival, Etc. IT RAINS OVER BABEL will be her first feature film.
She is a Bhakti Yogi who enjoys gypsy music and dancing salsa brava, paintings that one never quite understands, implausible stories, ancient Egyptian mysticism, Vedic philosophy, yellow orchids, people with a happy spirit and days of a lot of sun.
